Never-ending journey

At dverse Sarah has us revisiting the wonderful work of artist Fay Collins who sadly passed away recently. We are writing ekphrastic poetry inspired by one of her paintings. This was my choice.

There is that moment when solid ground is

no longer.

And you are free to
drift and roll with tides,
undercurrents, ride
waves violent or gentle.

This shape shifting world
at the end of the road is

fathomless.

A place where your mind can

roam
as you are buoyed in
unending free fall.

  1. I love the way you use words redolent of the sea here. And there’s something about this poem that really captures the moment when you go over a rise and first see the sea, that knowing that the water will hold you. I really like it a lot.

    That sounds marvelously inviting.

  3. This is wonderful… so inviting, yet I always feel that where there is a fall there is also a landing.

  4. dorahak says:

That moment of “free fall” makes the ride worth it.
